Meet your speech pathologist

Brigid Shamburg, M.A., CCC-SLP

Brigid has worked as a speech-language pathologist since August 2005, after receiving a baccalaureate degree in Music Therapy from Immaculata University in PA and a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Memphis. She is a certified speech-language pathologist, a current member of ASHA, and licensed in the state of California.

OUR STORY

Brigid worked at camps for kids with disabilities throughout her teenage years. One hot summer day, her buddy, 4-year-old Keegan, who did not communicate using words, sang the Bubblegum song clearly and in its entirety. She was hooked!

Brigid and her husband, Daniel, met in Tennessee while in graduate school. Californians since 2006, they are blessed to be a part of the beautiful community of Leucadia and Encinitas. Between piano lessons (still taught by Mom), Little League, skateboarding, boogie boarding, and kids being kids, the Shamburg family also makes time to read, camp, hike, and be outdoors as much as possible.

Brigid and Daniel homeschooled two of their three boys during the pandemic, while she also continued to provide therapy services both over telehealth and in-person. During this unique period of stress and growth, Brigid and Daniel observed how vitally important relationships are to children. This was the catalyst for Brigid to become a DIRFloortime practitioner and open One of a Kind.

Additionally, Brigid was a competing member of the award-winning San Diego Chorus for 10 years. She has utilized the skilled vocal coaching and training to support her understanding and approach to vocal, sound, and speech production.
